Dr. Gudrun Tiedemann
(CEO)

Gudrun Tiedemann founded the ATP GmbH together with Prof. Dr. med Gustav Steinhoff in 2006. She also is deputy director of the Reference- and Translation Center for Cardiac Stem Cell Therapy (RTC) at Rostock University. She is responsible for the translation process and clinical studies as well as for the cooperation with external partners. Gudrun Tiedemann has been working on stem cell therapies with Prof. Dr. med. Gustav Steinhoff at the University Rostock since 2006. Since that time the focus has been on the clinical development of new therapies for heart diseases based on stem cell research. Before, she worked in different positions in the pharmaceutical industry focusing on international innovation management for 15 years. From 2001 to 2006 she was CEO for Biotechnology and R&D at the German Federation of the pharmaceutical industry (BPI) in Berlin. In 1998 she became head of BioTOP – the Action-Center of the Berlin-Brandenburg bio-region.

Before her career in industry Gudrun Tiedemann worked on research at universities and at the drug institute in Berlin, i.e., today’s BfArM. She has already focused on Regenerative Medicine in her early work activities. Gudrun Tiedemann studied Biology.

 

Prof. Dr. med. Gustav Steinhoff

Gustav Steinhoff has been known as an expert in the field of stem cell therapies for many years. Worldwide he was one of the first clinicians who treated patients successfully with intra-myocardial transplantation of autologous stem cells. Thus he is one of the pioneers of these new therapies.

After his medical study at the Erasmus University Rotterdam Gustav Steinhoff conducted his research at Baylor College in Houston, Texas. He completed his thesis in 1986 and worked at the University of Kiel and the Medical School Hanover where he was appointed as an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 1998. In 1999 he became leader of the Department of General, Cardiac-, Vascular- and Abdominal-Surgery at the Oststadt-Hospital Hanover. In 2000 he moved to the University of Rostock as a director and chairman of the Department of Cardiac Surgery. There he continued his research on cardiac stem cell therapies. In 2003 he founded the Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy, IRMED e.V. The Advanced Therapies Partners has been launched in 2006 by Gustav Steinhoff together with Dr. Tiedemann.

Gustav Steinhoff is head of the Reference- and Translation Center for Cardiac Stem Cell Therapy in Rostock, which has been founded in 2008.
